Three tips for teachers who are dedicated to e-Learning

Contents, continuous training and teaching methods are some of the main elements to which an online teacher must pay attention. Here are some tips for all those teachers who want to appear in the e-Learning sector.

Just as in real life, even online, pupils are not only attracted by the type of content but also by the type of teaching offered by professors. Although e-Learning has been considered by some to be a "threat" for teachers, more and more training experts are successfully using online tools to improve and expand their pupils' knowledge.

Not only has e-Learning become part of the traditional teaching but also the teaching has become part of the digital world. In fact, many professors have abandoned the classic wooden chair to enter the virtual classrooms. However, this passage is not always as direct as it seems.

Here are three tips for all those teachers who are taking their first steps in the e-Learning world:

1. The virtual classroom is different from the real one.

The transition from traditional to virtual teaching may not be so linear. Knowing how to involve and direct the students in a real classroom, in fact, does not mean knowing how to do it in an online course. For this reason, the teaching method must adapt to the new tool and the new services offered by e-Learning. First, every self-respecting teacher who wants to look out for digital teaching will have to know the means available to be able to make the most of it with his new students, perhaps by participating first in an online course. Knowing how to adapt and be flexible are undoubtedly the best features to start a long journey in the world of virtual education.

2. The quality of the contents is fundamental, as always.

Although the way of conveying the concepts changes, even in the case of e-Learning, the teacher must offer quality content. Internet, in fact, allows to increase opportunities to improve training, for example through videos, links, interventions by other professionals. Digital resources not only improve the quality of content but also enable students to continue learning outside the online course, through infographics, games, quizzes, books, pdfs, podcasts and much more.

3. Get in touch with the students.

Many teachers who have experience with traditional teaching methods can find rather "cold" e-Learning. To overcome the lack of "face to face" it will be necessary to find other tools to establish a human relationship with the students. Among these, we find teacher videos, guides for pupils, tutoring and personalized feedback, discussions in the forums and, above all, constant participation, answering questions and messages from students. Stimulating student participation can help to create links between pupils and between students and the professor. These relationships serve to make teaching more humane but also to keep pupils' motivation high.

These are just three of the main tips for a novice teacher with the online world. E-Learning, as well as traditional teaching, is a continuous learning path, not only for students but also for teachers.
