United Arab Emirates: the eLearning initiative distributes tablets to students

3,100 tablets distributed to students of Sharjah schools to learn Arabic.

The "Lughati" initiative, approved by the Sovereign of Sharjah, aims to distribute tablets to 25,000 students and 1,000 teachers in all public schools in Sharjah. The goal is to preserve the teaching of the Arabic language, modernizing it.

The program is divided into six phases and, as of today, the implementation of the first three phases has been very positive: the first phase involved 5,060 nursery school students and 232 teachers, the second phase 2,959 first level students and 129 teachers.

The completion of the third phase, which cost 15 million US dollars, took place with the distribution of 3,100 tablets to second and third grade students. In addition, 130 storage and charging units were distributed, as well as specific teacher training programs.

The recipients of the intervention were mainly students with learning difficulties of 54 schools. Each tablet has been equipped with an application developed specifically for learning the Arabic language.

"The completion of phase three means that more than 11,000 children now have access to smart devices and can benefit from digital technology in their education. For many students, to be part of a digital classroom is an outstanding achievement and will provide global learning for all. the subjects involved ", said Badria Al Ali, head of the Lughati initiative
